Karen is a Tasmanian poet whose poetry continues to be published widely in literary journals, anthologies and newspapers throughout Australia and overseas. Her current collection All Under the One Granite Roof that was written with the assistance of a Writer's Development Grant from Arts Tasmania, will be released in early 2004. She is the co-editor of Interior Despots - Running the Border, a collection of well known Australian women writers (Pardalote Press, 2001).

Karen retains a day job at Australian Red Cross. She is married to a percussionist and has a grown up daughter, Celeste, two black cats and a lutino cockateil.
