Walt McDonald
A Woman Titian Could Love

"Two new books this year are Climbing the Divide (Notre Dame, 2003), and Great Lonely Places of the Texas Plains (Texas Tech UP, October 2003 — my poems paired with color photos by Texas State Photographer Wyman Meinzer). In 2002, Texas Tech UP published The Waltz He Was Born For: An Introduction to the Writing of Walt McDonald, a book of essays edited by poets Janice Whittington and Andrew Hudgins."

McDonald was a pilot in the U.S. Air Force and served as Texas Poet Laureate for 2001. Other publications include All Occasions (Notre Dame, 2000), Blessings the Body Gave, and The Flying Dutchman (Ohio State, 1998, 1986), Counting Survivors (Pittsburgh, 1995), Night Landings (Harper & Row, 1989), and After the Noise of Saigon (Massachusetts, 1988). His poems have been in journals including APR, The Atlantic Monthly, London Review of Books, New York Review of Books, and Poetry.
