Since Jonathan Sick's early years of elementary school in Calgary, he has had a fascination with astronomy and space exploration. Meeting several Canadian astronauts, and receiving an autographed picture from astronaut Charles Brady saying "You'll be an astronaut someday," has spurred Jonathan on to aspirations of being an astronaut.

Beyond scientific research, Jonathan has interests in photography, astrophotography, deep sky visual observing of galaxies, nebulae and star clusters. As a former scout, he also enjoys camping, backpacking (in the Rockies and Arctic), and skiing. Jonathan is also a member of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada and its Youth Group in Calgary. In the future Jonathan hopes to continue with his astronomy and space science studies
