XU XI ("Jazz Wife") is the author of five books of fiction. Her most recent are The Unwalled City (novel) and History's Fiction: Stories From the City of Hong Kong. She is also editor of a forthcoming anthology of Hong Kong writing in English, City Voices.

A Hong Kong native from a Chinese-Indonesian family, she is one of the city's leading English writers who, according to one reviewer, "explains the paradox that is Hong Kong." Other published writings are essays, op-eds and book reviews.
