Stephen Newton ("Each Day Then Was As Each Day Now," "The Mask of the Octopus," "My Family Had a '55 Ford"):

"I am Assistant Professor of English at William Paterson University in Wayne, New Jersey, where I also direct the Writing Center. In my spare time I like to sit in on electric guitar with friends playing in bars in the southern Adirondacks/ Lake George/ Saratoga Springs area, and many years ago was a night-shift janitor at the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville, Tennessee. On my office wall at the university I have postcards of Tom Waits, Allen Ginsberg, James Joyce, Fernando Pessoa, Willam Burroughs, Chet Baker, Billie Holliday, Jack Kerouac, Sylvia Plath, Walt Whitman, the Dalai Lama, Homer Simpson, and Elvis."
