A Puerto Rican poet and translator, Ina Cumpiano ("Black Box," "For Ivan, Eaten by the Tropics") attended The Johns Hopkins Writers Seminars and the University of Iowa Writers Workshop and was awarded a Ph.D. from the University of California. Her poetry has appeared in the Iowa, Black Warrior, Seneca, Five Fingers, and Americas Reviews, among others. She won the Jaime Suárez/Editores Salvadoreños Poetry Award and the New Millennium Writings Award, and second place in the El Andar Prize for Literary Excellence. She is the Editorial Director of Children’s Book Press in San Francisco.
