Sara McAulay, Editor and Graphics

McAulay grew up in Virginia but has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area for most of her adult life. She is the author of three novels and numerous works of short fiction and non-fiction. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts for her prose. Since 1984 she has taught writing and literature at CSU Hayward, where she is Director of the CW Program. In recent years she finds herself drawn strongly back to her early loves: graphic arts and sculpture. When not writing, or reading her students' writing, she can often be found either creating Photoshop graphics for Tattoo Highway, working with fused glass, or welding rusty washing-machine drums onto the hoods of junked cars.
