Leaving

A glass of water waits.
Soon only droplets are left.
Grant your own damned wish.
The field looks dry.
Fences are there for a reason.
Goodbye and don’t wait up.

Idle feet shift.
Empty scars have been forgotten.
Deliver the news last.
Sacrifice the children’s dreams.
Envelope me in disregard.
Make it appear real.

Slip into the lake of smoke.
Do you have a reason?
Blanket the driveway.
Free the fish of their watery walls.
Stop the bleeding.
Give it all away.
