N.M. Brewka (Exposure): I sold my first short mystery to The Boston Globe Sunday Magazine in 1982. I'm married to a former newspaperman who covered crime, and have lived in Beverly, Massachusetts ever since I graduated from college with an obsessive interest in Nathaniel Hawthorne. I'm also an artisan whose 18th century colonial japanning technique of gilded bas reliefs on wood and glass has been featured in Yankee Magazine, The New YorkTimes, and many other publications. In 1997, my ten-minute play called "You Say" was performed at Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art. That year I also won first prize in the International Shakespearean and Petrarchan Sonnet Competition sponsored by the Poetry Club of Chicago.
