imageF Is the Hardest
Richard Downing

F is the hardest of the easiest
chords to make. You’ve got to use your finger

to bar the bottom
two strings on the top

fret.
It can hurt

until you get used to it
and your left index finger

hardens—
toughens might be a better word.

Either way the strings will buzz
without the proper pressure

applied properly. God knows
I’ve got enough pressure.

It’s the technique
I seem to lack.
